Ranger — the arrow economy
The Ranger is the class the store uses to demonstrate elemental arrows: “rain arrows in your chosen element”. That single line tells us more about the class than the name does. It still does not tell us a single bow skill.
What the official art shows
The lineup shows a Ranger in green and gold leathers with a recurve bow, a braid and a light, mobile stance. The silhouette is the opposite of the Warrior’s: narrow, upright, ready to step. It reads as a class built around range and repositioning.
The likely game plan
A Ranger usually converts positioning into damage: the longer you stay at range, the more uptime you get. The risk is that a randomised Rupture forces you into a corridor or a swarm, where a bow has fewer answers than a slam. The store’s chosen-element line suggests the class can adapt its damage type to the pack — which, if true, is a large part of the class’s identity.
- Clear: arrows that pierce, chain or rain. The store explicitly mentions rain.
- Single target: a concentrated shot or a damage-over-time arrow. Watch for boss hitboxes.
- Defence: distance, evasion, a decoy or a movement skill. The HUD’s Space key matters more here.
- Bossing: can you keep firing while dodging, or does every shot root you?
What to test first
- Does the basic arrow pierce the first pack, or do you need a support gem?
- How much does the chosen element change the skill’s behaviour?
- Can you kite a rare without backing into terrain?
- Is there a movement skill that does not consume your only escape?
- Does the bow feel good on a controller, or is aiming mouse-only?
The build shape to aim for
-
One clear skill
A piercing or raining arrow. Link supports that add area or projectiles before raw damage.
-
One single-target skill
Bosses will not stand in your clear pattern. Keep a second bow skill for stationary targets.
-
One escape
A movement skill, a slow, or both. A Ranger with no escape is a melee class with fewer hit points.
-
One elemental plan
If the chosen element is real, pick one and scale it. Do not split fire and cold before you have a working clear.
What would change this page
A bow skill list, a gameplay clip, or a playtest build. The Ranger is the class most likely to be misrepresented by pre-launch guides because “rain arrows” sounds like a complete build. It is one example, not a kit.
