Broken Oath Wiki: An oath was broken.

Broken Oath is the Crater Studios ARPG: six classes, eight danger bands and five biomes that rewrite themselves every time you step through. This is the independent field guide to the Ruptures — what is confirmed, what is still hidden, and how to survive the first hour.

Descend Dwarven Realms · Rupture 01
Identify

Broken Oath (Steam app 5452900) is the Crater Studios ARPG — not the 1977 film, not The Broken Oath (5214790), not BROKEN OATH (4970110).

Which game?

The Ruptures · Five biomes

The world split open.

Frozen peaks, burning deserts, drowned fens and buried crypts. Every entry reshapes the map around you. The scenery is not a backdrop — it is the first modifier.

01 / 05

Root and canopy

Forest

Dense green, broken sightlines, something moving between the trunks. The first biome most players will learn to fear for the wrong reason: it is not the damage, it is the ambush.

Asks for: a close-range answer and a clean screen.

02 / 05

Nowhere to hide

Desert

Open sand, hard light and long sightlines. Every projectile has your name on it, and every rock is the only cover you get. A ranged build feels like a god until it is surrounded.

Asks for: gap-closers, line-of-sight breaks, sustain.

03 / 05

White on white

Snow peaks

Falling snow, blue hour, a bright skill effect and a ground telegraph the same colour as the ground. Beautiful. Also the hardest map to read at a glance.

Asks for: effect opacity, audio cues, a build that does not hide the fight.

04 / 05

The slow ground

Swamp

Drowned fens, reeds, water where you want floor. Movement is a tax, and the pack that catches you in the water is the pack that ends the run.

Asks for: movement speed, area denial, a plan for narrow paths.

05 / 05

Buried crypts

Underrealm

The deep end of the world. Enclosed fights, doorways that turn a minion army into a traffic jam, and the feeling that the map was not built for you.

Asks for: corridor skills, minion pathing, a light in the dark.

Loot · Four tiers

Worth the oath?

Magic, rare, red unique, Primal. The store confirms four tiers and one of them is a lottery. The rest is a decision about what to pick up and what to leave on the floor.

01

Magic

Early upgrades and filler affixes. Useful for the first hour; not worth a stash tab.

Equip the upgrade. Move on.
02

Rare

The workhorse. Multiple affixes, the base of most builds, and the item you will compare a hundred times.

Identify. Compare against the slot.
03

Unique

Red items with build-defining effects. The effect matters more than the rarity colour.

Read the effect twice. Check the cost.
04

Primal

“A chase tier so rare that most players will never see one.” A lottery, not a build requirement.

Do not plan around it. Farm anyway.

The Forge · Edda Ironhand

The Forge remembers.

Find a rune stone in each land. Learn the recipe it carries. Bring the materials to Edda Ironhand and make something that outlives the run. In a game about a broken oath, the smith is the one who repairs what can still be repaired.

I

Find

A rune stone in each land. The store says they are found, not bought.

II

Learn

The stone teaches a recipe. Knowledge is the unlock, not just a material.

III

Craft

Edda turns the recipe and materials into gear. The full rules are still unpublished.
